As the ex President of the UGAGB, congratulations to this superb new look website for the Ukrainian
The first tournament got underway at College Pines.
The weather was dry but very windy making it testing conditions for all golfers. It was a good turnout, 14 players and 2 absentees. CONGRATULATIONS must go to the “young guns” Michael and Matthew Bdzola.
They certainly showed us the way – no fear at all, Michael was playing with a new set of irons for the first time – he won with points to spare (if anyone is interested I’ll let you know where he got them). Matthew, with such enthusiasm, nearly won the tournament – he came second and just died at the end - well played (it must be the inherited genes from Dad).
Bazz came in equal third together with Julian who, incidentally, was celebrating his birthday and as a matter of fact was the winner of the “Birdie Pool” – well done.
Beware the “Mafiosa” Bdzola are taking over.
Nearest the Pin was won by dead eye Derek Gozlinski who stepped up and with pinpoint accuracy was several feet away from the hole which proved to be unbeatable.
Mr Paul Killoran won the longest drive – it must have been the Irish nectar (Guinness) or those strength giving butties (or could it be his new club?).
The North West has laid down the gauntlet to the rest of the members of the Society – let battle commence.
Hope everyone enjoyed their golf and who knows you could be the winner next time (but I doubt it).

I hope you all have had a lovely English Easter – Ukrainian Easter is yet to come. Trust you have not eaten too many Easter eggs as this can affect your swing and stamina – you don’t want to look like me – or do you!

First of all I apologise for the late issue of April’s Newsletter – this is due to many commitments I have on at this moment in time. It’s the first time in UGAGB history that Bazz has won the longest drive. For this to be achieved half the field of players did not turn up and those who did (for which we are truly thankful) could not hit their ball straight but bish, bash, bosh Bazz managed to hit his ball safely down the middle of the fairway to win the prize. Congratulations to Mick Gillies for the pinpoint accuracy in winning Nearest the Pin (must have been a fluke). Michael Bdzola Jnr is still not fit to play due to a bad hand injury – he says he’s giving us all a chance to win a tournament – hopefully he will be fit to play in June’s tournament and will be, I am sure, fully fit for the World Championship in Canada. Credit again to young Matthew Bdzola for coming in equal second but was relegated to third place (no prize) due to the countback rule. Well done to Roman Skalsky on achieving Second place due to a marvelous effort but I’m afraid it was just not good enough to beat Boom Boom Bazz who achieved first place with a very steady and sound round. Thanks to all who did manage to turn up and play. It was nice to see Michael Bidny who did not play due to an injury to his foot but did manage to turn up anyway to support and meet the other players in the Society. A big thanks also to him for undertaking the running of our Website – thank you very much Mick. Our website address will be advised to you all in due course. I hope to see as many of you as possible on Sunday, 18 May at Breedon Priory, Derby, Tee off 11.00 a.m. I hope everyone had a lovely Ukrainian Easter (I did because I ate all the “кубаса”).
